About Beyond The Box Advocacy

Beyond The Box Advocacy works to remove structural barriers within disability systems that restrict access, autonomy, and opportunity for Americans with disabilities. The organization supports individuals navigating disability systems today and advises organizations working to improve those systems for the future.

Our work is grounded in lived experience and systems analysis. We partner with individuals, families, nonprofits, healthcare providers, and policy stakeholders to identify where disability systems create unnecessary limitations and to develop solutions that support independence, continuity, and full participation in community life.

At the center of this work is the Enforced Barriers Project, a framework that identifies structural barriers embedded within disability policy and support systems. These barriers shape how people access services, maintain stability, and move through education, employment, healthcare, and community life.

Beyond The Box Advocacy also developed the Disability Support Service Portability Framework, a policy model examining how residency-tied eligibility limits opportunity across geography and major life transitions.

Through consulting, policy analysis, and advocacy, Beyond The Box Advocacy works to help create disability systems that support access, mobility, and autonomy.
